DCC Sound Chip GWR Prairie 45XX Class ESU

DCC Sound Trains Decoder for the GWR Prairie 45XX Class

GWR Prairie 45XX Class Wikipedia background information

All sounds are in fine 16-bit quality without artifacts or background noise. The whistles have a nice and subtle echo that slowly fades out.

Furthermore, our projects offer features such as

– quick response to controller commands

– vacuum brake

– coasting mode

– volume setting by F-key

– brake short whistle

– F key manual Ejector  control.

– The GWR fitted two different whistles on many of their locomotives, a “brake” or “shunt” whistle that had a low tone, and a “main” or “service” whistle that had a higher pitch and was used most of the time.     — The Manor project has these two whistles, but also some variations of them that you can select via different CVs if you would like to change them.

-The “main” or “service” whistle is on F2 (long or variable), F3 (short) and F14 (echo). Both F2 and F14 have different versions that again are selectable using a CV. CV162 controls which version is used on F2, — -and is set to 0 by default, but if you program CV162 to a value of 1, it will now play a fixed length clip each time the function key is pressed. There are 3 different clips that will be randomly played for each time  –the function is pressed.

Also you can activate a shunting mode. It offers different acceleration values and individual max speed. All values are adjustable by CVs.

Not to mention the project contains

– curve squeal

– coach doors slamming

– brake valves

– water fill sound.

Operation – Loksound5 Locoman Sounds GWR 4575 Small Prairie

To operate your locomotive, on a DCC layout your locomotive comes with the loco address set to the default short address #3.  To run your locomotive, place on the track, select the correct address, set the speed and your loco will move.  To turn on the sound, press F1.  You will hear a slight hiss of steam.  To turn the sound off, press F1 again and the locomotive will be silent, but still run.

The locomotive has some momentum set to ensure realistic operation and sounds.  This momentum allows for the loco to have a slight delay as the brakes release before moving off.  The sounds will respond to changes in the throttle, getting louder when you increase the throttle, and going quiet with the sounds of rod clank when decelerating.

There is detailed further information on this that can be found on the ESU website under downloads – http://www.esu.eu/en/downloads/instruction-manuals/digital-decoders/

There are random sounds that play when the locomotive is resting such as the injector and coal shovelling.  These can be disabled if necessary, please consult the function list below.

NB – DCC sound is not tolerant of dirty track or wheels so make sure to keep your track and wheels clean to get the best of this decoder.  If the sound becomes intermittent, you may need to cycle through F8 to get the sound to come back on again, but this is usually a sign of poor pickups, dirty track or dirty wheels.

Besides, coal shovelling is always synchronized with Aux1, even as a random sound. Plus a whole spectrum of authentic sounds adding to your driving pleasure.

DCC Sound Trains Chips

To begin with we built a strong reputation for multichannel digital recordings. These are exclusive to our projects.

We have new projects in production all year round, will release them as our production pipeline moves forward.

The steam and diesel loco sounds we offer covers a great part of British Railway Heritage. We offer a range of DCC sound chips. Our recording equipment is state of the art.  All in all they allow the modeller to enjoy the response from the controller with quality steam and diesel sounds at a great price. So we are developing projects on this platform. These decoders show off our unique hifi British train noises

Default function mapping

The LokSound decoder has been configured with many functions.  The full list is shown in the list on the following page, but some of the common ones are

F0: Lights (directional, if fitted)

F1: Sound on/off

F2: GWR main whistle (choice of 3 selectable through changing the value of CV162 to 0, 1 or 2, default is CV162=1 which is a playable whistle.)

F3: GWR shunt whistle (choice of 2 selectable through changing the value of CV161 to 0 or 1 default is CV161=0 which is a playable whistle.  The other selection plays a short shunt whistle clip of 1 of 2 different clips played randomly).

F4: Vacuum Brake

F5: Drain cocks

F6: Fancy whistle.

F7: Stationary: doors (on), guards whistle (off) F7: Moving: flange squeal (speed dependent)

F8: Buffer clash

F9: Forced coasting (loco exhaust will shut off and coasting sounds will play).

Remember, you can reset the decoder at any stage by programming a value of 8 into CV 8.  To do this, on a DCC system:

  • first select the loco to be programmed (if it is straight out of the box, then the loco will have an address of 3, so select loco address 3)
  • go to programming on the main (POM)
  • Select Program CVs
  • Select CV 8 for changing
  • Enter a value of 8 into CV8

This will reset the decoder including any changes to loco addresses, volume settings and DC operation.

For further instructions on programming, see the detailed Loksound Select (steam/diesel) manual available at http://www.esu.eu/en/downloads/instruction-manuals/digital-decoders/

Overall volume control is through CV 63. Default setting is CV63=128, Max Volume is CV63=192

Volumes can also be set individually (see table below) after setting CV 31 = 16 and CV32 = 1

DCC Sound Chips ESU Class 20 Diesel

DCC sound chips Project.

ESU Loco Sound Decoders Deliver Good Projects & High Quality Sound at a Great Price

First of all the project includes high and low horns. Play both as you like with variable length as you like. Also quite short hi-lo and quite short lo-hi horn too.

Combine all horns at your will. Of course they are in fine 16-bit quality. Likewise there is removal of artefacts or background noise. They have a decent echo which fades out.

Also included are curve squeal, coach doors slamming, brake valves, brake release. Besides each chip includes whole other spectrum of authentic sounds.
So our diesel projects offer features. such as active brake, engine idle and volume settings by F-key.
Automatic Cold Start Engine for first time. When power is switched off and on again the Cold Start effect would trigger.
There is also a shunting mode too. So this separates acceleration values and individual greatest speed. Then they are all adjustable by CVs as well.
Not only does the sound of the prime mover react to the movements of the throttle. So this sounds with moderate revs with a smooth opening of the throttle. Also more thrash sound appears if you ram down the throttle as well.
Besides you can set the speed where the thrash comes in by defining a different greatest speed with CVs too.

ESU Decoders for Flying Scotsman Class A3

We believe that this project is the most advanced ever.

Many functions are linked to others, some are automatic or semi-automatic (can be switched off or overridden), most sounds can be changed in volume and their process can be influenced. The driving noise also varies in many ways depending on how you operate the controller.

With the playable whistle you can even play the “football theme” if your controller is fast enough. In addition, we also have other impressive whistle sounds on the decoder.
The whistle in our sound project reflects the original condition and is correct for LNER and BR services as well as for the condition of the whistle since mid-2019.
After BR service the condition of the whistle deteriorated. As can be heard in a film from 1968, it started with a shrill tone that was heard at the beginning of whistling and ended in 2015/2016 with only that tone being heard.
The whistle was completely overhauled in mid-2019 and now sounds like it did in the old days.

Order will be sent by Royal Mail Tracked Post.

Airpump not suitable for the chosen era? Turn it off by CV.

Slamming doors is not hard enough or too hard? Change it.

Half open fire box door? If you want, the sound can even simulate that and the synchronous flickering light will also be dimmed. Everything adjustable via CV, but you can also choose a “classic” version.

And – have you noticed that a locomotive with 12 cars behind behaves differently than when shunting? And that some sounds are different too?

If so, you will love this project.

We pay attention to details!.

Since we professionally record all sounds in each project at the highest fidelity with digital recorders with multiple microphones placed on the loco. Also, we give advice on speaker selection and placement. The most important factor is to please your particular pair of ears. However, this is because everyone has a different set.

Specially processed chuff sounds for high-speed drivability. So these chuffs sound real even at full throttle. Free playable whistle reacting to your fingertip control. Additional Sounds with outstanding high quality – no audible loop or annoying background noise. All random sounds have always the same volume as the F-key-sounds.

Shunting mode has been designed with a second sound set (lighter chuffs, decent loco brake squeal, cab door instead of coach door and introduce different whistles).

Also, using F4 at lower speed enables vacuum brake valve sounds.

Furthermore, we offer a wide variety of steam model railway sound effects projects. These continue to expand as we prototype, polish and make available more DCC chips with loco sound. At this point, the DCC chips are now with ‘All New’ interactive features.  Incidentally, this DCC Sound Decoders UK Project has random stationery sounds including Injector & Coal Shovelings.  items sent by Royal Mail Tracked Post.
